I’ve been riding for a while now and heard the word Keirin thrown around a good deal, and yet, for one reason or another, it never really went further than that. I mean, I’d seen some pictures of people in bright clothes with big round helmets…but that was all.

I'm going to get something out of the way right at the start here; I like NASCAR.  And not in an ironic way, or a contrarian way, but in an "Oh-my-god-they're-racing-200mph-side-by-side-in-cars-that-sound-and-perform-like-they're-part-of-the-space-program" kind of way.  Actually, if NASA started to race rockets, I'd be on board too!

And after all, NASCAR and bike racing have a lot in common, take your average velodrome

Track Sprint

Well, it’s been raining in LA this week (I know, shocking), which means we weren’t able to make it out to the track.  Luckily, I found this awesome piece by the New York Times about match sprint strategy, definitely worth a look!

Yesterday, we had our second excursion to the velodrome.  Well, technically, it was our third, but last Monday we got there just as they were turning off the lights…so I’m not gonna count that one.

This weekend was filled with a lot of riding and a big first for a lot of us here at the office, our first time on a velodrome.

After meeting up at the Metro in NoHo, Jordan, Mike, and I all took the bike path out to the Encino Velodrome
